My First Chanel Jacket Love

First Chanel Jacket After The 10th Chanel Bag

Chanel handbags are the gateway to Chanel ready-to-wear. My first Chanel jacket was an unplanned purchase at Austin Neiman’s

Some of us who love handbags but can only buy so many move on to other things like necklaces and sunglasses.

Then the ultimate luxury, in my view, is Chanel clothing or what’s commonly known as Chanel RTW – Ready to Wear.

I developed a friendly relationship with my sales associate on my trips to see handbags at my local Saks.

One day, I noticed her jacket was exceptionally beautiful, and I asked her, “Where did you get it?” She said this is Chanel ready to wear from many years ago.

Hold on! Does Chanel make clothing? I didn’t know. I mean, I knew they made couture gowns for celebrities but not clothing that pleb like you, and I can buy off the rack.

The Chanel Jacket Obsession Began

Social media will always serve you what you are thinking about before you start looking, right? Haha! That is when I started seeing all the influencers wearing these beautiful works of art.

They were wearing these items with just jeans. I can do that. I am always in jeans. Thats it! I had to own one. Just one!

The Hunt

My initial thought was that I would buy something preloved, so I ventured out to a local luxury resale boutique and tried a Chanel jacket. Unfortunately, it didn’t do much for me, so I passed, but the desire to own one strengthened.

Then, one day, when I was visiting Austin to hang out with my family, I stopped by the Neiman Marcus Chanel boutique in Austin Domain. It was Ready to Wear! Whoa!!

The Bird Coat

That’s when I noticed (my husband named it the bird coat) this beauty that looks like it is made of shiny bird feathers (it’s not). It resembles iridescent feathers on many birds, such as hummingbirds or starlings.

“Affordable Chanel”

That is an oxymoron, but the bird coat is made more like a cardigan, so it was priced lower than most classic Chanel jackets at “just” $3,300. I believe it is still a lot of money, but it was within my reach at the time. It was love at first sight.

It had the signature silk lining, which was important to me. It didn’t have the iconic Chanel chain at the bottom that I wanted, but I was happy to be able to afford it. It looked like bird feathers, though!

My lifelong love for bids

I am the owner of The Resplendent Crow. I have a special love for birds. I mean, I named a business after a bird! I have been a birdwatcher my entire life and have always had bird feeders. I used to volunteer at a bird shelter 23 years ago.

A Chanel jacket made of sparkly feather-looking fabric with a camellia pattern was meant to be mine.

That was about four years ago, and I haven’t stopped collecting. So here we are! If you have arrived here for the first time, my name is Sucheta. I am a lover and collector wearer of Chanel jackets.

The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my journey of collecting these works of art & more importantly, taking beautiful, lust-worthy pictures so they can live on the internet forever.

I am 5 ft 2 and about 120 pounds. I am no model, so you must tolerate that part, haha!

My hope is that someday if you are looking for a real-life (not catwalk or photoshopped) picture of a particular Chanel jacket, this blog will help you. It may help you to decide for or against it. I don’t know! We will find out as time goes on.
