Introduction To Dubai Ribbon Tweed
The Chanel Dubai ribbon tweed jacket is my go-to cropped jacket from the Chanel Dubai collection, launched in 2015. It is made of lovely black and white lesage tweed.
This was part of the Paris – Dubai collection launched in 2015 as part of the resort 2015 collection. The runway show was in May-2014. I own the glittery tweed one from the same collection and have the black one on my wishlist!
Where Did I Buy The Ribbon Tweed Jacket?
I purchased the Chanel Dubai ribbon tweed jacket from the same seller on eBay that sold me the glittery tweed jacket. I believe! It’s been a few years so I am not 100% sure.
eBay is and has been my number one source of pre-loved Chanel Jackets. This jacket pops up on all sorts of resellers’ websites, so it’s easy to score.
Alterations to Chanel Dubai Jacket
This was also one of my early purchases when I was still new to Chanel’s sizing, so after realizing that I am not 36 at all, I bought this one in 40. The arms were super tight still, so my amazing tailor lady enlarged them.
I tend to have problems with my arms. I have thicker arms for my overall size, so there are times I have to have jackets taken out at arms only! Oh well.
Woven Tweed Made Of Strips Of Fabric
The Woven tweed of this jacket is absolutely gorgeous! Strips of chiffon-like fabric make up this tweed. It has a certain imperfect, artisan, handmade look to it. It is also fairly delicate and tends to get more pulls and snags.
Part of the beauty is the delicateness, and the pulls are part of enjoying and wearing your purchase. As you can see, it has snagged quite a bit at the sleeve because it rubs on surfaces and on your jeans, etc.
Diane von Furstenberg once said, “Black and white is a color,” meaning when together, they are like a single striking color, and I couldn’t agree more. The black and white combo, along with the lesage tweed, takes this jacket to another level.
Buttons on Dubai Black Jacket
The buttons are identical to the glittery tweed number, made of black and champagne crystals. The little CC logo is in the center. Both the buttons on the front and on the sleeves are the same size.
Cut & Fit of The Dubai Black and White Jacket
The jacket is short! It’s a cropped jacket, so it’s perfect for short girls (like me at 5′.1′). I love to pair it with flared jeans. It is a classic boxy shape. Additionally, it has no buttons, so it’s meant to be worn like a cardigan. It does have hidden closure if you want to wear it closed.
The Interior Lining & Chain Detail
The lining has Camelia details, and the chain is oxidized silver. This jacket also has silver trim around its lining, like its glittery tweed sibling.
Thoughts on Chanel Dubai B&W Jacket
- All in all, a classic Chanel with a cropped length for short gals
- Black and white tweed for a perfect neutral
- The tweed is delicate, so you will have to live with the snags and pulls
- Comes up for resale frequently, so fairly easy to score.
