Introduction To The Glittery Tweed Jacket
Chanel Dubai glittery tweed jacket is one of my favorite lightweight spring jackets. This was launched in 2015 as part of the Resort 2015 collection. It’s also called the Paris- Dubai collection.
The collection was launched in May 2014. As you know, fashion brands are several months ahead of the actual season. This blog post is a review of the glittery jacket. I also have the ribbon tweed one from this collection that I adore.
Where Did I Buy It?
This was an eBay purchase from a seller who’s still on the platform and has solid feedback. I believe I have purchased more than one jacket from her.
The jacket looks authentic. One of these days, I will get it authenticated. It makes me very nervous about authenticating old purchases because, you know, ignorance is bliss. Haha!
Alterations to Dubai Glittery Jacket
When I purchased this jacket, I was very unfamiliar with Chanel’s sizing. This jacket is size 36, and I was 40 when I bought it. My Hulk arms could barely go in. Yikes! Luckily, it had huge seams available, so my tailor could take it out in two sizes. So IME has generous seams for alterations.
Sparkly Tweed With Sequence
The tweed on this jacket has a sequence all over of white, silver, and champagne gold color. It sparkles in every light, but more so in dim lighting conditions. The tweed is lightweight, and the pattern is inspired by an Arabic headscarf called “Keffiyeh,” as shown here. It’s perfect for hot summer nights out at a cold restaurant.
Black & Champagne Buttons
The buttons are made of black and champagne crystals. They are absolutely gorgeous. The little CC logo is in the center. Both the buttons on the front and on the sleeves are the same size.
Cut & Fit of The Sparkly Jacket
Typical Chanel style, the jacket is straight, boxy, with no collar. It’s meant to be worn open, like a cardigan. The lightweight tweed gives it the feel of a formal cardigan.
It’s cropped in length, so it’s perfect for short gals like yours truly, who is a whole 5′.1″ tall. I like cropped jackets because they don’t look overwhelming on me. It shows my butt nicely, which is a nice bonus.
There are five hidden fasteners if you choose to wear it closed.
The Chain and The Silver Trim Inside
This jacket has the signature Chanel chain in silver. It also has this beautiful silver detail around the entire interior perimeter, which is kinda cool and unusual. This detail is not there in other jackets in my collection.
As you can see since mine was taken out a whole two sizes, some chunks of the silver detail are missing, and it looks like a patch was added by my tailor. That does not look very good, and I may have to have her get rid of it because I have lost weight, so I don’t need the additional space.
I believe my jacket was advertised as unworn and looked new to me. It showed up with the spare button and fabric, so that was a nice surprise.
Thoughts on Chanel Dubai Glittery Tweed Jacket
If you can score this little number pre-loved, I would recommend it. I would buy it again.
