Find Gems On Poshmark
I scored this stunning Chanel Chanel suit on poshmark. The skirt doesn’t fit me at all, but at the $800 price tag, I don’t care so much.
I already had its red-colored twin that I had scored on TRR, and I also got it authenticated, so I knew this would likely be the real deal.
Generally speaking, there’s not a strong need to authenticate a vintage score, but I have been burned plenty, so I am kind of paranoid.
Anyhow, I was eyeing this beauty for months. The seller even sent me a killer offer, but I made my move when I was ready.
The suit was in excellent, barely used condition. More importantly, it fits me perfectly. I was shocked that I fit into a size 36.
Chanel’s sizing is very forgiving because you can have your jacket taken out (or in) up to two sizes, so I was not too worried.
At $800, this was a score. I have my eyes on a couple of other pieces on Poshmark, so I will go back for more.
The Real Real Is Really Awesome
Vintage Chanel RTW, and especially the gems from the 1990s, are highly underpriced on TRR.
On TRR, the newer items tend to be priced higher because most searchers are looking for pieces from more recent collections.
Vintage is priced within reach on TRR. These beautiful suits sold for under $2K on TRR.
I have seen the jacket alone priced (and sold) at over $3K on eBay or other places by professional sellers.
Is this suit worth over $3000? Yes, absolutely, but it’s better at under $ 2,000.
Another one is this suit I scored for $1600 on TRR—the black and white versions sold for double recently.
Yes, black and white are more versatile and desirable, but don’t underestimate the popularity of pink.
Vestiaire
This is my only Vestiaire purchase so far, but I do intend to buy more from there.
I have seen some amazing deals that were almost stolen on Vestiaire. You have to check regularly, and you have to do searches like

- Chanel suit
- Chanel vest
- Chanel skirt
- Chanel tweed
Because lots of sellers from other countries use different words for “jacket,” it’s very easy to find items that are miscategorized.
Look at this lovely coral piece listed at a super affordable price on Vestiaire right now. This makes Chanel “affordable” or at least within reach.
Pricey Sources For Vintage Chanel
There are lots of private sellers on Instagram selling vintage Chanel. I follow many of them. They are a great source to buy a vintage Chanel jacket.
I like them because they vet the item, look for flaws and funky smells, and check for authenticity.
They are usually the middleman selling for someone else. This comes at a cost because they have to pay for their time and acquired knowledge.
Also, they have savvy followers who are die-hard Chanel fans with a wish list of vintage Chanel that they are waiting to add to their collection.
They will gladly pay the higher price tag, and that’s great. I, too, have done it for “must-have” pieces.
Of course, it’s worth paying the extra because there is less risk, but you can certainly score amazing deals on your own if you do some due diligence.
The most important benefit of following Instagram resellers is knowing the maximum price you should pay for an item.
Seriously! They are a great source to gauge current market pricing for vintage Chanel.
They are also a great source to find the desirable, good-looking vintage Chanel for your wishlist. The reality is that not all vintage Chanel is desirable; most of it is actually not.
In fact, most vintage Chanel suites are just too old and too dated. There are only a handful that are timeless and chic.
So generally, my wishlist is formed or highly influenced by following the Instagrammer resellers while I make my purchases mostly on discount websites.
